Sophie Fullerlove, Director and Chief Executive

Sophie leads the team at The Spring. Her role includes all areas of strategic management including working with the trustees to write and deliver all areas of the Business Plan. She also programmes The Spring’s live events and visual arts, manages relationships with funders and partners, is responsible for budgets and fundraising.

Since taking up her position Sophie has increased the ambition of The Spring. She has particularly focused on programming high quality and high profile performances and increased the reach of the venue through the outreach programme.  She wants you to know that she genuinely believes that watching and taking part the arts and heritage activities can transform lives and she is dedicated to making The Spring a cultural highlight for the region.

Sophie’s background lies in arts and theatre management. She has a degree in History and Archaeology from Cardiff University and a postgraduate diploma in Arts Management from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has worked in marketing and development roles in arts venues in Hereford and Salisbury. Before joining The Spring she was General Manager at Forest Forge Theatre Company.

Outside her life at The Spring Sophie enjoys going to the theatre and is an enthusiastic reader and baker. She lives in Southampton with her husband and pet tortoise.

Jacqueline Fagg, Finance and Trading Company Manager

Jacs has been at The Spring for fifteen years and has worked in various areas within the organisation. She is responsible for all aspects of finance for the charity, the cafe and the oyster gift shop.

Having started her career as a Marine Biologist Jacs moved across into administration in the Maritime Faculty at Southampton Institute (now Solent University) before having a family and then settling on a career at The Spring.

Jacs says that working at The Spring and being involved with her local community is very rewarding.Outside of work she loves to be doing anything outdoors, especially by the coast, and spends all summer down at her beach hut on Hayling.

Kate Saunders, Participation and Heritage Manager

Kate has worked in a variety of roles at The Springe including Press Officer and Marketing Assistant. As Participation and Heritage Manager she programmes the Heritage events at The Spring, including talks and open days, runs the museum on a day to day basis and organises the Participation programme.

Kate came to The Spring via a BA(Hons) in Fine Art and went on to complete an MA in Fine Art at Portsmouth University. Back in her youth she studied Historical Studies at Portsmouth Polytechnic gaining a BA (Hons).

Kate has participated in and curated many exhibitions over the last 20 years, including ‘Resurgence’ and many textile exhibitions. Although she continues to have an interest in art she has to admit she rarely has the time to create any now.

Jemma Corbin, Creative Producer

Jemma has been part of The Spring team since 2014 and delivers a number of projects that present exciting, innovative creative experiences to both new and long-standing Spring audiences.

Jemma studied for a degree in Fine Arts from Auckland University in New Zealand, but since moving to the UK 10 years ago she has largely worked in the field of performing arts. Through this work Jemma has seen the positive impact that arts and culture can have on those who experience it, empowering individuals and bringing communities together.

Although Jemma’s professional focus moved away from Fine Arts, she still dabbles in the odd bit of painting and enjoys a good long walk on a wet and windy beach.

Natalie Watson, Marketing and Development Manager

Natalie joined The Spring in May 2016 and leads The Spring's Marketing and Box Office team. 

Natalie graduated from the University of Surrey with a first class BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies in 2014. Previous to The Spring, Natalie has been Marketing Officer for The Phoenix Arts Centre and Assistant Events Manager for HMS Victory and the National Museum of the Royal Navy, as well as working as a freelance Project Manager.

Natalie has a particular interest in contemporary theatre and immersive experiences and hopes to be able to use this in her marketing work at The Spring. Outside of the arts, she enjoys walks along her local beach and is training to take part in the Great South Run 2017.

Amber Jefferson-Grant, Marketing Assistant

Amber joined The Spring in January 2017 and works with Natalie as the Marketing Assistant.

Amber graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a first class BA (Hons) in Illustration in 2014. Alongside her marketing assistant role Amber runs her own small illustration business; Amber Pip. She has a love for children’s illustration, character design and combining digital and traditional mediums.

Prior to her role at The Spring, Amber worked as the Design & Marketing Assistant at Divine Aesthetic.

In her spare time, Amber enjoys musical theatre, cinema, baking and eating lovely food!

Debbie Barton, Box Office Manager

If you’ve been to The Spring for any reason you are bound to have encountered Debbie, either in the Box Office or out and about in the gallery, shop and café.

Debbie has managed the Box Office since September 2012 before which she had a long and varied career in IBM.  

Debbie really enjoys being out front at The Spring because, she says, we have so many lovely customers and it is a fabulous place to work.

She is also a regular customer at music and theatre events.

Lisa Emson, Finance & Admin / Box Office Assistant

Lisa has two roles at The Spring, working as Finance and Administration Assistant Monday to Thursday and Box Office Assistant on Friday, and enjoys the varied tasks that these roles involve.

Lisa’s background is in local government finance and management services. She has a degree in Economics from the University of Portsmouth and has a Management Services Certificate from the Institute of Management Services, which she acquired at the Harry Mitchell College in Nottingham.

Lisa lives in Havant with her three children and in her spare time she enjoys yoga and is a keen runner and a volunteer Run Director at Havant parkrun. She particularly loves music, and has always wished she could play a musical instrument, but for now, is just happy listening.

David Wicks, Operations Manager

After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama David has spent the majority of his career working as a Production Manager for theatre and corporate events all over Europe; working with major Ballet and Opera companies such as Birmingham Royal Ballet, numerous west end shows and prestigious corporate clients including KPMG, Selfridges and Cameron Mackintosh.

David is very creative both in his professional and private life. His lighting and set design skills have been well utilised over his career and at home he enjoys woodwork, and sewing.

Working with communities and increasing access to the arts is something David finds extremely rewarding and inspiring. David is excited to have joined such a vibrant, community based venue at The Spring, and is looking forward to contributing to continuing great success.
