Free “sonic seasoning” at The Spring

Music Bites features a smorgasbord of musicians. The entertainment is free and comes with a licensed bar.

Recent scientific studies have shown that music can enhance the flavour of what’s on your plate.

So we’ve got some “sonic seasoning” in store for anyone who fancies the delicious lunches at The Spring’s award-winning café this summer.

The Spring’s programme of Saturday Music Bites features a smorgasbord of musicians to help you get the most from your lunchtimes. And all this fantastic entertainment is free and comes with a licensed bar.

Hot Jazz and Rising Star

Local music star John Gleadall kicks off on Saturday 6 July at 1pm with DiElle and Chris Wood. The trio performs songs and harmonies inspired by great songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Carole King.

And then on the first Saturday of August, we’ll be featuring Pleasantville, who return to The Spring with their blend of country covers and blues standards.

Tim Cheatle, the Portsmouth-based guitarist and composer who has studied with some of the greats of the guitar world, is here on Saturday 10 August. He’s performed at big venues across the country, including Victorious Festival and Celtic Connections.

Fans of laid-back acoustic music are in for a treat when some of The Infinity Sessions (an all-female group) team up with Nathan (17 August). Together they’ll be performing some great heartfelt covers.

Improv Jazz and something for children too

Observer of life and teller of stories, John Meriton, is a singer/songwriter from Emsworth. He’ll be at The Café on 24 August.

And to round up a great month of Saturdays, there’ll be Improv Jazz on 31 August with south Hampshire musicians who love to get together playing melodies you’ll know – and some you won’t.

Saturday Music Bites run from 1pm to 2.30pm.

Something special in the Cafe...

The Café will be hosting Cheesecake Tuesday from 11am during August. There’s Cupcake Decorating on Wednesdays for kids, while those not counting the calories can dip into our Cream Tea Special on Thursday for only £4.

And on Fridays we have It’s Nearly Sundae. Our friends at Northney Dairy supply the ice creams and we’ll be using fruit, sauces and more to create some really special sundaes.

And as school is out, The Café has an enhanced children’s menu and kids’ lunchboxes for only £3.50. The Café is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm serving everything from all-day breakfasts, baguettes and salads to hot lunches. Outside seating available.
