Calling all Mothers and Daughters

Join the actors from Greyscale Theatre Company live on stage on
Thursday 12 May in
Gods Are Fallen And All Safety Gone

As part of their show, Gods Are Fallen And All Safety Gone, Greyscale Theatre Company are looking for a real life mother and daughter to take part in the production when it’s at The Spring.

No acting experience is needed. The mother and daughter are simply required to sit at a table at the rear of the stage with a pot of tea, two mugs and a jigsaw puzzle. They are not directed or told what to do, they can chat quietly, complete the puzzle, drink the tea, watch the actors, watch the audience … it’s completely up to them.

Gods are Fallen and all Safety Gone is a critically acclaimed production from Greyscale Theatre. The title of the production is taken from John Steinbeck’s novel East of Eden and it is about the moment when we realise that our parents are flawed human beings, and that at some point, probably sooner than we think, they are suddenly going to disappear from our lives.

As the mother and daughter character are both played by men, the company think it is important that the audience see an actual mother and daughter on stage. The unmistakable behavioural mirroring of a real mother and daughter creates another element to the show.

After five minutes or so, the audience tends to forget the second mother and daughter are there (in a good way!) and see them as just two more audience members who just got a special seat.

To register your interest in this opportunity you must be over 18 and be free on the evening of the performance. Please register your interest by visiting The Spring’s Facebook page and like, share and comment on the post about this opportunity. Register your interest by Friday 22 April.

“Thank you so much for the opportunity to be part of this beautiful piece of work. Izzy and I have been talking about it and are enjoying looking at each other slightly differently. Also, this morning I booked a short holiday with my mother, something I’ve been meaning to do for a while but hadn’t prioritised. She is so happy about it. My thanks to you.”
