Coronavirus Statement 17 March 202017 March 2020
On Monday 16 March the government issued advice to minimise social contact during the next stage of the Coronavirus outbreak.
We take the health and safety of our visitors, staff, volunteers and wider community very seriously. The Spring will therefore be closed for all activity for the foreseeable future.
We will be cancelling all events and closing the building until at least Saturday 4 April. After this time we will move to a rolling week-by-week closure and event cancellation plan. This will help us manage the cancellations effectively and means we will be able to re-open quickly when possible.
We will be in touch in the coming days to arrange refunds or exchanges for all ticket holders for events due to take place between now and 4 April. As you can imagine we have a lot of people to contact. Please bear with us while we do so. It would be very helpful if you are able to wait until we contact you.
Customers with tickets booked for activities after 4 April will be contacted the week before with information about whether events will be going ahead. If cancellations need to be made these will be processed then. Although we will honour requests for cancellations for any event within the next 12 weeks it would be an enormous help to us if you could wait until one week before your event so we can manage this situation effectively.
If you would like to support us at this challenging time please consider donating your ticket refund to us as a donation. In return we will give anyone who does so a free membership of The Spring for one year. You can also make donations directly to us online here
This will be a very difficult time for our organisation. Like many other theatres and museums, our Business Interruption Insurance does not cover us for this eventuality. As a charity we do not have the reserves to sustain a long closure and although we intend to pay our staff during closure everyone will is facing significant pay cuts. We are doing our best to support our staff, the wider industry and our community.
We are so sorry not to be able to remain open at a time we know will be difficult for everyone. Please stay safe and we look forward to seeing you again as soon as we can.
With very best wishes
The Spring team
