Coronavirus Statement 2 April 2020

2 April 2020

In a while, crocodile

The Spring is currently closed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.  We are so sorry not to be more of a presence at this difficult time for everyone. Where possible we will continue to deliver events and activities remotely. Please keep an eye on our social media channels and website for further information and join us in our online adventures.

We were really excited about the programme we had planned for the late spring and summer.  We still feel this way and so are trying to reschedule as many live events as possible.

To enable us to manage the situation effectively we are taking a phased approach to cancelling and rearranging. Although we sadly suspect we will be closed for several months, this means that when the time comes we will be able to open quickly and more easily.

If you are a ticket holder for an event, especially if it is later in the summer, we may not be in touch for a few weeks. Please don’t worry – we will contact you.

If your event has been rescheduled your ticket will be transferred automatically and we will let you know. If you are unable to make the new date we will be happy to issue a refund. It will usually take about a week for a new date to be listed on our website and for spare tickets to be released for sale. This is so we can contact the customers who have purchased tickets in the first instance.

Some events will sadly have to be cancelled and we will also let you know in these cases.  You will be welcome to exchange your ticket for a credit note or to request a refund. Many of our audiences have also chosen to donate the price of their tickets.  We understand that not everyone is in the position to do this and are hugely grateful to those who choose to. Please bear with us as we work through our events to your booking.

The current closure will have a significant long-term impact on The Spring. Like many other charities, theatres and museums, our Business Interruption Insurance does not cover us for this eventuality. We are a registered charity and we do not have the reserves to sustain a long closure. Although some of the recent government initiatives for business will help, they will not solve the problems created by losing several months of income. We are looking at lots of ways to overcome the current problems and have a team of staff working remotely to ensure the best possible future for our organisation.

We believe that little things can make big things happen. If you think so too and would like to help us during this challenging time please consider making a small donation via text message.  Please text LITTLE to 70085 to donate £5 (or LITTLENOINFO if you would like to opt out of hearing from us).

We can’t wait to be back open and welcoming you through our doors again.  We miss our colleagues, volunteers and wonderful customers and friends more than you can imagine!

Please stay safe and we’ll be back as soon as we can.

With very best wishes and thank you.
The Spring Team
