Find out about your family history with expert help from The Spring

27 November 2014

Interest in genealogy has grown enormously in recent years, and many people are setting out on the journey of tracing their family history.

Christine Russell, resident genealogist at the Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, will give a talk on Thursday 12 March in which she will outline how to take the first steps in this exciting quest.

Organising your research is key to success, and Christine will give tips on how to identify the best sources to consult, how to make the best use of the internet, and how to plan out a family tree. You will need to assemble records, talk to family members, and search your own memories; you may be surprised by how much you already know! It’s also important to store your information safely once you have tracked it down.

Genealogy makes an excellent hobby, and is great fun to do. Once you are hooked, you just want to carry on and find out more!

The talk will take place in the Langstone Room at 7.45pm, and tickets are priced at £5. To book, please contact the Box Office on 023 9247 2700.
