Glorious Garden Family Festival!29 January 2018
The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre is feeling green-fingered this February with its Glorious Garden Family Festival. Get involved in some of the opportunities taking place across Havant Borough and help your family have fun, get creative and get their imaginations growing!
First, why not pick up one of the 1000 free craft packs available now from libraries and community venues across the borough. The packs contain everything your child will need to make their very own flying friend at home – will they make a bumblebee, a ladybird or a butterfly?
Then, why not pop-in to one of The Spring’s ‘A Bug’s Party’ garden pop-ups? They are perfect for a fun family afternoon out - shrink down to bug size and get busy like a bee, wiggle like a worm or spin like a spider to celebrate the garden’s Queen Bee! These events are free for everyone and there is no need to book in advance – just come along at any time and stay as long as you like. The events are 2-4pm each day on:
Saturday 10 February at Berewood School, Waterlooville PO7 7PS
Sunday 11 February at Emsworth Community Centre, PO10 7DD
If you’re looking for something creative to do during the February half-term, why not head to The Spring for one of their ‘Plants, Pots and Pansies’ workshops on Tuesday 13 - Thursday 15 February. There are workshops morning and afternoon (10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm). Perfect for little gardeners with green fingers to get crafty and have fun with interactive stories and games. Suitable for children aged 4-7 with an accompanying adult, £6.50 per child.
Then, as the final opportunity to celebrate all things green, The Spring is presenting a performance of Sidney’s Shed on Saturday 24 February at 11.30am. Children aged 5+ and their families will love this silly story of Sidney and his very special time-travelling shed! As well as the performance of Sidney’s Shed, there will be other free activities happening throughout the building for the family to enjoy. Tickets to the performances are £8 each (or £7 each for groups of four or more). Pick up a craft pack or go to one of the free ‘A Bug’s Party’ pop-up events for an extra discount.
To book onto one of the half-term Plants, Pots and Pansies workshops or to see Sidney’s Shed, please contact The Spring’s Box Office on 02392 472 700 or visit Plants, Pots and Pansies and Sidney's Shed on The Spring website.
The Family Festival is part of The Spring’s outreach programme ‘Beyond the Walls’ and encourages families to have fun and get creative together.
These events are supported by Arts Council England, Hampshire County Council, Havant Borough Council, The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust and Havant Borough Councillors Lulu Bowerman, Richard Kennett and Rivka Cresswell.
