Havant at Home15 August 2017
Held in Havant Park on Saturday 29 July, the event was a free celebration of Havant and the people who call it home, featuring an aerial circus performance based on the idea of ‘home’ and what it means to people, plus local music acts, stalls and activities from Havant-based community groups and locally produced food.
The event was part of the Spring’s outreach programme Beyond the Walls and was made possible through funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s Celebrate programme, which is helping communities across the UK to celebrate what makes their local neighbourhood great.
Jemma Corbin, Creative Producer at The Spring, said: “We saw this funding opportunity and immediately knew we wanted to create this event for people to come together to celebrate the Havant community and to reflect on what the borough means to them as a place and as a home. We were delighted that so many people came out and joined us despite the rain.”
The Spring worked with Millstream Productions, a film production company based in Emsworth, to create a short film capturing the event and the audience’s reflections of Havant and what home means to them.
