The Spring is awarded Investing in Volunteers
The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre is delighted to announce that it has been accredited by Investing in Volunteers, a quality standard award for volunteers. An accolade rarely bestowed on a theatre and arts centre, it honours The Spring’s dedication to an inclusive and fulfilling volunteer programme.
Sophie Fullerlove, Director at The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre said, "We are delighted to have received this award. It shows we treat our volunteers well and that they feel valued when coming here. There are many reasons that a volunteer chooses to come to The Spring – because they want to give something back to the community, because they believe in what we do or to gain employment experience and skills – but regardless of the reason, our priority is to make sure their experience is a rewarding one.”
With nearly 100 volunteers who carry out many crucial roles from maintenance and museum research to technical support, theatre stewarding and even in the café, The Spring’s diverse volunteer programme adds an extra £60,000 worth of value to the arts centre.
Sophie continued, “We hope our current volunteers feel pride at working for an organisation with this standard because it wouldn’t be possible to do what we do without them.”
As a registered charity, The Spring relies on grants and the support of the community to continue to create innovative programmes that inspire and engage audiences across the borough of Havant and beyond. Working with volunteers allows The Spring to utilise its limited financial resources to continually increase the quality and reach of its work.
The volunteer programme is also beneficial to those who give their time, providing many local people with an important outlet to engage in and give back to their community. Achieving this prestigious award demonstrates to potential volunteers the value The Spring places on providing an outstanding volunteer experience.
