Museum Re:Imagine Programme11 September 2018
The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre aims to re-imagine its museum and heritage spaces and stories to make it a contemporary, welcoming and inspiring space, living up to The Spring’s vision to be UK’s leading arts & heritage centre and our mission of being ‘a small place where big things happen’.
The Spring is seeking to appoint a company or agency to work with us over the next period to develop our museum and heritage galleries, looking at the stories we tell, how we tell them and the artefacts and collection.
We have identified two phases of the project:
- Phase One: Feasibility Study
To work with a leading design or cultural agency to explore the possibilities for The Spring’s heritage and museum spaces, playing with ideas and including creative ways to use arts and heritage in integrated ways. We want to work with an agency who will develop several options for our future, with budgets. It is our intention to apply for funding for this part of the project from Heritage Lottery Fund’s resilience programme.
- Phase Two: Delivery
To deliver all aspects of The Spring’s chosen re-imagination design including object display, interpretation graphic design and sensory experiences
The Spring does not employ a curator and the collection on display does not belong to the museum. We are therefore looking for an agency who are able to manage the whole project, including curatorial work and working with The Spring to identify and borrow objects to best tell our chosen stories. 2
The successful company will be able to demonstrate a creative approach and be willing to work with The Spring over two years to deliver the full project and a reimagined museum space, depending on funding.
