Roll up! Roll up! Free family theatre is on its way to Havant

3 July 2015

Ever wanted to count how many legs a Decapus has? Or wondered what a Whistling Pank eats? The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre has the answer to all these nonsense questions as they go beyond their walls this August with a zany family theatre show - Dr Longitude’s Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie.

Created by award-winning theatre company Les Enfants Terribles, Dr Longitude’s Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie is coming to two venues in Havant for four performances of free outdoor theatre. With a weird and wonderful travelling emporium full of incredible creatures and crazy characters, this extraordinary show features puppets, music and magic that will delight the whole family. Plus there’ll be a range of other fantastic fun things for all the family to enjoy.

The Springand Dr Longitude’s caravan of wonder will be taking over Hayling Island Park (next to the Community Centre, PO11 0HB) on Friday 7th August and Leigh Park Gardens (Staunton Country Park, PO9 5HB) on Saturday 8th August, with two free performances on each day at 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

Jemma Corbin, The Spring’s Outreach Manager, said:

“These performancess are part of Beyond The Walls, The Spring’s programme of outreach events in the community, and we can’t think of a better show to bring to some of Havant’s beautiful open spaces. Audiences can just turn up, there’s no seats to reserve and no need to book in advance. There will be a range of other activities to enjoy, so we want everyone to make the most of the summer sun and come and join us.”

Les Enfants Terribles are currently wowing London audiences with their interactive show Alice’s Adventures Underground in the vaults underneath Waterloo. Tickets for that show cost over £40 so visitors to Dr Longitude will have a rare opportunity to see this incredible company for free.
