The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre awarded Hampshire County Council Grants21 December 2017
The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre is delighted to receive two funding grants from Hampshire County Council for 2018/19. The grants were awarded by Councillor Andrew Gibson, from the Culture and Recreation Fund and Community Buildings Capital Fund.
The award of £107,476 will enable The Spring to continue delivering a range of cultural and heritage events in Havant, which include live performance, outreach and participation programmes and heritage projects.
A further capital grant of £44,120 has been awarded so The Spring can purchase equipment to enable the screening of live performances through initiatives such as National Theatre Live. The grant also includes funding to add soundproofing to walls of adjoining spaces so that there is an increase in hireable space within the venue.
Sophie Fullerlove, Centre Director, said
“A huge thank you to Hampshire County Council for this investment in The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre. We promise to continue to deliver exciting arts and heritage events, and deliver more for our communities. We are especially excited to receive capital funding to allow us to improve our technical equipment and begin to screen live performances, to enable even more of our community to access and enjoy cultural events that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.”
This grant award follows on from the recent announcement that The Spring will become an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation from 2018 – 2022, which is a fantastic achievement for the centre and for the future of arts and cultural events in Havant Borough.
