The Spring becomes a National Portfolio Organisation!27 June 2017
Under the 10-year strategy by the Arts Council England – Great Art and Culture for Everyone the National portfolio is an investment programme that identifies and provides regular funding to key organisations across the country. They represent some of the best arts practice in the world. This aims to provide a balanced portfolio to support key activities that support driving engagement with the arts and culture, and the opportunities for people and young people with a suitable spread of cultural activities.
The National Portfolio aims to ensure there is a suitable spread of organisations across England that includes a range of different artforms and mixture of varied artistic practices and sizes of organisations.
The Spring’s Director Sophie Fullerlove is delighted:
“We are thrilled that The Spring has been recognised as a key provider of arts and cultural activity. As one of the few combined arts and heritage centres in the country, we set out to be one of the leading examples of how to be a small place where big things happen.
This funding will allow us to continue to grow and develop both our wide range of activities and performances at the Spring, in addition to continuing to expand our work in and around the community across Havant and the wider area. We have many exciting projects planned over the coming years and as an NPO, we are able to continue to develop and grow these, working closely with artists and organisations across Hampshire and the UK.
The NPO process is hugely competitive and it is a testament to the Spring team and board of trustees that our activity has been recognised as being a key contributor to the national portfolio and we are very grateful for the support from the Arts Council to The Spring.”
