Transport Co-ordinators needed

27 October 2015

Volunteer Role: Transport Co-ordinators

From January – April 2016 The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre will be running a pilot project that will see us provide taxi transport to and from specially chosen Spring events, for older people living in Waterlooville and Hayling Island. We want to give people who may not otherwise be able to attend our events the chance to come along!

We are currently looking for volunteers to accompany the taxis and audiences from designated collection points to The Spring and back again, creating a sense of community and ensuring the wellbeing of the users.

The role will be overseen by The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre’s Operations Manager.

What would we ask you to do?

We are looking for friendly, outgoing volunteers who would meet our audiences at collection points (likely to be Waterlooville library or Havant library).

Volunteers will check that the audiences are accounted for (We will provide you with all the lists and information you need for this) and accompany them to The Spring to watch the performance or film (we will provide a free ticket for this).

Volunteers will then return with the group in the taxi, encouraging a sense of community and gathering their feedback

We would ask volunteers to assist audience members where necessary and be a friendly face at The Spring to answer questions and to provide a friend for anyone nervous about attending an event on their own.

When are the events?

We are looking for a group of people who will volunteer for the following events. We will need two volunteers for each event – one to accompany the Hayling Island group and one to accompany the Waterlooville group.
