Workshops for Adults
Each week during term time we offer a selection of visual art workshops for adults where you can enjoy tuition from professionals in a relaxed environment.
Autumn 2017 term dates: w/c 11 September - w/c 4 December | Half term w/c 23 October
You can book workshops in two blocks of six weeks each. To secure your place for the full term, please book both blocks in advance.
Try Before You Buy – if you are a new participant, come along and try your first session for free. If you decide to return, you’ll pay for the session with the rest of the term. Subject to availability.
Please note: you need to bring your own materials to all classes.
On Thursday mornings during term time we open up the Art Space for anyone who would like the chance to come and use our materials and equipment for free. A great way to find out if art activities are for you!

If you are a budding landscape painter, then this weekly workshop is for you! Come along and discover the wonderfully diverse medium of oils, where you will have the chance to experiment with mark making and explore some contemporary landscape artists for inspiration.
Explore the exciting potential of pastel painting and the range of techniques and styles it encompasses in a fun and informative environment. Join Robyn for a great chance to develop your pastel skills across a wide variety of subjects and themes.
Delve into the wonderful world of illustration in this course that covers the exciting basics of drawing. You will have the chance to explore and experiment with shade and tone, perspective and object forms.
Start your watercolour journey in this introduction to the expressive medium. Get to grips with principles of paint, water and paper and develop your understanding of the wonderful opportunities watercolour offers as well as the limitations of this expressive medium.
Our project sessions give those with a little more confidence the space, time and support to develop their work independently, supported by a tutor.
Stretch your skills and refine your watercolour style through analysis and experimentation. Take a look at your work with a slightly different perspective, try something new and step outside your comfort zone – you’ll find some surprising results…
Learn techniques to design, create and produce your own fused glass Christmas decorations and gifts, including a Christmas tree, robin, snowflake, and wreath decorations, and Christmas garden pot decoration and coaster gifts. You will explore glass cutting, patterns and specialist glass such as Dichroic glass, stringers and frit, as well as being introduced to extended techniques such as glass painting, stencils and glass printing. Please note that the results of firing cannot be predicted and results are normally seen as a pleasant surprise! Each participant will be able to make one festive decoration each week, with additional glass available to purchase from the tutor on the day.
