Janis: Little Girl Blue

In the Langstone Room

This autumn we continue our Film Friday monthly screening of the best in modern documentaries. Each film screening has a short introduction and then an informal post-screening discussion led by Steve Murray, Trustee of The Spring.

Janis Joplin is one of the most revered and iconic rock & roll singers of all time. This documentary presents an intimate and insightful portrait of a complicated, driven, and often beleaguered artist. Narrated by musician Cat Power, Joplin's own words tell much of the film's story through a series of letters she wrote to her parents over the years, many of them made public here for the first time.
