The Friends of Havant Cemeteries are a group of volunteers who work together to clear and tidy the cemeteries at New Lane, Eastern Road and Warblington. Recently they received a Heritage Lottery Grant and decided to hold an open day to celebrate. Events are taking place at The Spring and also at New Lane and Eastern Road cemeteries.

Activities at The Spring

  • An exhibition of the group's research
  • 30 minute talks about the cemeteries' history and inhabitants at 10.30am and 2pm
  • A family tree activity for children from 10.15am to 3.30pm
  • Opportunities for family history research with experienced genealogists and local historians
  • Morris dancing at 11am and 12pm (weather permitting)
  • Rob Mills, a Hampshire folk singer from 1pm - 2pm
  • A display by TCV (The Conservation Volunteers)

Activities at New Lane and Eastern Road Cemeteries

  • Official opening of the new gates, bench and information boards by Alan Mak MP at 12pm
  • Historic walks at 10.45am and 2pm
  • A natural history walk at 11.15am and a photographic walk at 3pm
  • A quiz
