Talk by Gale Gould
23 May Heritage

Tickets: £6.50

In the Harrison Room

This illustrated talk examines the practice of medieval aristocratic hunting through to the development in the 18th century of fox hunting in the New Forest; as well as the enduring poaching and deer stealing activities, as practised by the peasant community.

Gale Gould from the University of Southampton reveals that while hunting, poaching and deer stealing have always been reflective of the human-animal relationship they are activities that also say a lot about the economic, political and social relationships that human beings have had with one another.
