An immersive video installation commissioned by The Spring
Merging contemporary visual arts with local heritage themes, Wellspring is a new installation from artists Anna Heinrich and Leon Palmer created especially for The Spring.
Havant is peppered with natural springs supplied by water that has been filtering through the chalk karst landscapes of the South Downs for thousands of years. It has shaped the industry and history of this area and yet this phenomenon remains discreet and mundane.
Wellspring takes an extraordinary look at the process of water moving over and through chalk and other materials, filmed in extreme slow motion on a high speed camera, to create a sculptural landscape.
Experience our special exhibition in the transformed Mezzanine, with accompanying soundscape to immerse you in an otherworldly, fictional landscape.
Heinrich and Palmer are internationally renowned video and projection artists, most famously known for their work Floe, as part of the Hull City of Culture celebrations 2017.
