Wessex Film Archive: Portsmouth in Film

19th September

In the Harrison Room

Tickets: £6.50

A chance to see some Portsmouth events, people and places from the 1930s to 50s, captured on film.

The evening will feature excepts from a cinefilm made to publicise Portsmouth in 1937, amateur films created by the city’s Cine Club in the 1930s and some home video featuring Portsmouth and Southsea in the 40s and 50s.

A second film The Longest Night, will focus on 10 January 1941 and the worst night of air raids endured by Portsmouth.  The story of the night is told by those who lived through it.

Both films are introduced by a volunteer from the Wessex Film Archive
