Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman was awarded the Costa Prize in 2017 and was in the top ten best sellers for a number of weeks. At the beginning of the novel we might think Eleanor is fine with the ordered life she has created. Except it isn’t. We, the readers, begin to realise the problems. This novel has been described as ‘up-lit’, a story about the very worst and very best of which humans are capable. Our discussion will be led by Valerie Bird.
