Led by Peter Hammond 13th MayThe Louder I Will Sing, the winner of the Costa Biography Prize 2020, is a story of racism, riots and redemption. Lee Lawrence writes of the time in 1985 when his innocent mother was shot in a police raid; he was eleven. The shooting sparked two days of rioting in London. He tells of his family’s difficulties in caring for his paralysed mother, and his thirty year struggle against prejudice in his pursuit of justice, peace and for a change in our society’s attitudes. The discussion will be led by Peter Hammond.
