Do You Think That’s Wise? The Life and Times of John Le Mesurier
Tickets: £12.50, £11.50 concessions, £10 for veterans and those currently serving in the armed forces
An affectionate tribute to one of Britain’s best loved comedy stars John Le Mesurier.
Dad’s Army turned actor John Le Mesurier into a household name as the quintessentially English Sergeant Wilson. As with many comedy stars, Le Mesurier’s life was not without tragedy. His broken marriage to Hattie Jacques and the betrayal by best friend Tony Hancock were setbacks that shook him, but his reputation never wavered.
Leading impressionist Julian Dutton presents this show that is packed with glorious reminiscences and stories from the golden age of British comedy and is a joyful and moving celebration of one of the most popular comic actors of the twentieth century.
75 years after the D-Day tanks rolled down Havant streets on the way to France we take time to celebrate the very best of English comedy and to appreciate the freedom given to us by those who lost their lives and made sacrifices during World War Two.
